Module 3 of the BC Step Code Training Course builds on the basic building science principles and applies them to evolving and emerging enclosure design and construction practices required to meet the “envelope first” approach.

By the end of this module you will be able to:

  • Apply building science principles to help in the selection of durable building components, assemblies, and construction approaches in the diverse British Columbia climate and market.
  • You’ll also be able to use industry resources to determine appropriate enclosure components and assemblies, mechanical components, and construction approaches that can be used to meet the current and future requirements of the BCESC and achieve best practices.

  • Review all course materials in full. The course includes interactive lessons, instructional videos and reference materials divided into individual units (modules) of study. Units can be completed at a student’s own pace.
